Direct Online Submission to the Police Department:
Sri Lanka Police Department provides you the option to submit you application yourself, through their website, if you have left Sri Lanka after reaching sixteen (16) years of age. You can use the following link to access the online application:
Applying at our counter: We encourage you to submit your application direct to the Police Department, through the above link. However, if you so wish, you can submit your application at our counter. To submit the application at the counter, you must obtain a prior appointment. You can obtain an appointment on any working day between 9.30am -1.30pm. For public holiday closures please visit here
If you have left Sri Lanka before reaching the age of sixteen (16) years, you must submit your application at our counter.
Applicants in South Australia can send the application via post after certifying the documents from the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Adelaide at the following address:

For each of the following supporting documents, original document + 1 set of photocopies should be submitted.
All Photocopies Should Be Submitted in A4 Size.
Translations in lieu of originals not accepted.

Your application submitted at our counter will be forwarded to the Police Headquarters in Colombo for issuance of the Certificate. There is no guaranteed duration for issuance of the Certificate.

We will notify you by an email upon receipt of the certificate.
You do not need to obtain a prior appointment for collection of your certificate. You can collect your certificate by visiting the Consulate General between 9.15-9.30 am OR 1.30 -1.45 pm on any working day. Before visiting us, please check our website for any public holiday closures.
If you wish to receive your certificate via registered post, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, passport/NIC number, application reference number and the postal address. The tracking number will be emailed to you to follow-up.
