The Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, Pradeepa Saram met with Mr. Stephen Levickis, General Manager, Membership and International Services of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and held fruitful discussions on enhancing economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Victoria.
The meeting focused on growing bilateral trade, promoting two-way tourism and exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation by leveraging strong community links and high-level engagements between the two countries. During the meeting, Consul General elaborated the emerging potential for Victorian businesses to explore increased trade and investment prospects in Sri Lanka and encouraged buyer and investor participation from VCCI members at Sri Lanka EXPO 2027, country’s flagship international exhibition.
Both sides noted that Jetstar’s upcoming launch of direct flights between Melbourne and Colombo in August 2026, is poised to be a significant development for both countries, creating more tourism, travel and trade opportunities.
Established in 1851, VCCI is the largest and most influential business organisation in Victoria, supporting members and non-members businesses across a range of areas including international engagement opportunities.
