CONSULATE GENERAL OF SRI LANKA MELBOURNE

Issuing certified copies of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates through the e-BMD data system at Sri Lankan Missions/Posts abroad

If you are living in Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania you can obtain Birth, Marriage and Death certificate after obtained from 1960 through this office.

You can submit your request to the email (mail@slcgmel.org) or via post along with following application.

Payment

1. Fee for Certification of Birth/Marriage/Death : AUD 46

For request submitting via email: You can make the bank transfer to the Consulate General bank account. Our Bank account details will be sent upon the request of applicant.

For request submitting via post : The relevant fee should be sent by Postal Money Order (Australia Post)/bank draft drawn in favour of the “Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne” along with the application.

Collection

You do not need to obtain a prior appointment for collection of your certificate. You can collect your certificate by visiting the Consulate General between 9.15-9.30 am OR 1.30 -1.45 pm on any working day, once you receive the email from this office for collection. Before visiting us, please check our website for any public holiday closures. 

If you wish to receive the certified document/s via post, please mention your postal address to be sent the documents in the application. The document/s will be sent to you via registered post and tracking number will be emailed to you to follow up.

The Department of Immigration & Emigration of Sri Lanka has announced establishing of a new simplified e-Visa scheme replacing the former Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system to issue visas to visit Sri Lanka. Under the new scheme all visitors must complete an eVisa application prior to their arrival in the country through the eVisa site of the Department ( http://www.srilankaevisa.lk/).
