Consul General – designate of Sri Lanka presents Commission of Appointment to the State Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Victoria State Office (DFAT-VSO)

The Consul General – designate of Sri Lanka to South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria Pradeepa Saram presented her Commission of Appointment to the State Director Timothy Kane, Victoria State Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on 31.03.2025 in Melbourne. The State Director Kane warmly welcomed the Consul General to Melbourne and wished her well in her new assignment.

The meeting focused on reinforcing cooperation in areas of mutual interest; promoting trade, investment, tourism, sport and education, as well as enduring people-to-people contacts. During the meeting Consul General Saram referred the vibrant Sri Lankan Community residing in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania and hailed their invaluable contribution towards elevating relations between the two countries.

Victoria is home to the largest Sri Lankan community in Australia, and one of the largest outside Sri Lanka.

The Department of Immigration & Emigration of Sri Lanka has announced establishing of a new simplified e-Visa scheme replacing the former Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system to issue visas to visit Sri Lanka.
