CONSULATE

Consulate General of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Melbourne has opened in 2013. It has Consular jurisdiction over Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania and it is headed by Consul General, Sandith Samarasinghe.

Mr. Sandith Samarasinghe, former member Parliament assumed duties at the Consulate General of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Melbourne on 12 December 2022 as the Consul General of Sri Lanka with jurisdiction over the States of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Mr. Samarasinghe has 13 years experience in politics, experience with engaging with numerous stakeholders across industry, government and corporate sectors and operated within a complex environment at both national and international level. He worked as a Climate Change Consultant at multinational and local organizations involved in renewable energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, wildlife and agriculture development projects in Sri Lanka. He has previously served as a Monitoring MP at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Christian Affairs, and the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Divisional Development, Sri Lanka as well.

Mr. Samarasinghe holds the Bachelor of Communication (Major in Media Communication), University of Canberra and Fine Arts – Arts & Photography, Ball State University Muncie Indiana, USA. Mr. Samarasinghe received his primary and secondary education from Trinity College, Kandy.
